December 16, 2017-(San Antonio, Texas) Christmas was in the air and so were the bull riders! The final Cowboys Extreme Bull Riding of 2017 was packed with top flight bucking bulls that put on a show for the capacity crowd. Unsuccessful bull riders were dispatched from their competition with crowd pleasing ariels. When the dust settled and final latch was thrown, Chance Lopez edged out the competition with an 87.5 point ride on Wild Cactus Ranch’s “Wacker Cat” to earn $1,049.60. “Wacker Cat” is a calf out of the PBR World Champion Bucking Bull “Bushwacker” and this was an extremely “gutsy” ride by Chance Lopez…kudos!
Second place was claimed by two-time National Finals Rodeo qualifier Reid Barker. Barker marked 86.5 points on T4 Bucking Bulls’ 371 “Little Red Head” and pocketed $820.00 for the evening’s effort. Fresh back from the Australian PBR Finals, Jorge Valdiveizo was 84.5 points on 5S Ranch’s 3026 “Black Bart” to win $590.40. Luis Blanco, 2017 PBR Finals International Qualifier scored 83 points on T4 Bucking Bull’s 3702 “Top Hand” and earned $492.00 for the night’s effort. Jackson Landgraff claimed the last hole with his 82 point ride on JD Nix Rodeo Co.’s 130 “Lots of Spots” and pocketed $328.00.
The next Cowboys Extreme Bull Riding event will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2018. This event will feature daytime activities that include The Exclusive Genetics Bucking Bull Games Tour Stop No. 2 Futurity event at 1:00 p.m. With the rider event to follow at 8:30 p.m.
