PBR @ Cowboys Dancehall – 11/16/13

This Saturday, November 16, 2013 marks another installment of Y-100’s presentation of the PBR at Cowboys Dancehall in San Antonio. Remember folks, although the calendar says 2013, the PBR is already in swing for the 2014 season…every bull rider is making their plans and shooting for the 2014 PBR World Championship and that $1,000,000.00 championship prize.

Notable Riders

  • Bonner Bolton-like his father, championship bull rider-Toya Bolton, this guy is a favorite at any event he attends. With a fresh season upon us, Bonner is a guy to keep your eyes on in 2014.
  • Jason Malone-spent a great deal of time on the BFTS in 2013, but was hampered by injuries in the second half of the season that eventually caused him to take the last half of the season off to recover. He’s healthy and ready to make waves in 2014.
  • Clayton Baethge-part of the South Texas Young Guns group, this Johnson City, Texas bull rider is coming off his match ride with Bushwacker in October and is primed for a great 2014 season on the PBR Tour. Plus, he is rockin’ a pretty wicked ‘stache these days.
  • Sterling Furr-local favorite bull rider from Boerne, Texas who is attending college in Uvalde, Texas. Furr has some PBR TPD event wins under his belt and is looking to have a great 2014 season.
  • Reid Barker-young gun from Comfort, Texas that is likely to have his breakout year in the PBR.
  • Clayton Foltyn-former PBR Finalist and reigning champion bull rider at Pendleton, 2013 was frustrating for this guy as he was on the “outside looking in” on the Wrangler National Finals Rodeo by about $3,000.00. That bad taste in his mouth could lead to a killer 2014 season.
  • Ralph Benson, Jr.-this kid from Adkins, Texas can ride. When he decides to hit the road hard the tour better watch out. Benson is a guy with a lot of bull riding smarts and he most always leaves the event with money in his pocket.

Bucking Bulls

  • Currey Creek-Joe Garcia and Chris Condon continue to develop excellence in their bull program. This team is fresh back from the PBR Finals in Las Vegas feeling the glow of their win in the Maturity Madness event with Blonde Bomber (who is in the draw this Saturday at Cowboys!)
  • JD Nix-This family operation that includes wife-Karla and daughter-Nikki is extremely passionate about the bull business. They were also busy at the PBR Finals with Panda’s Tracks…who snuck out of the chute at the Finals in Las Vegas.

  • Kevin Loudamy-Kevin is a legend in the business. He has taken bulls to the PBR Finals every single year since the organization’s inception.
  • Sid Evans-Sid has produced big time PBR buckers such as Bad Moon and Cool Whip. As of late he’s been laying low and this is the first time we will have seen him in a while, I am confident that he has been re-loading his bull program and we will be in store for some great buckers from Burnet, Texas.

Match-Ups to Watch

  • Sterling Furr on Currey Creek’s PBR Finals Bucking Bull R351-Getta’ Holt’ On–great opportunity for this young rider to make a statement early in the year.
  • Clayton Baethge on Currey Creek’s PBR Finals Bucking Bull 913-Walter Pepper–although he didn’t make the whistle on Bushwacker in October, Clayton gave the PBR Champion Bucking Bull a good rip. Riding this bull will kickstart a year in which I predict Clayton will spend a lot of time on the Built Ford Tough Series.
